Thyroid diet plan

Thyroid diet plan that works with your medication

Thyroid medication is the core treatment, and a diet plan supports it by managing weight, energy, digestion and nutrient intake. Praksha plans your meals around your thyroid type and lab reports, and builds them around the medication timing your doctor has given you.

Who this is for

  • You have hypothyroidism and are gaining weight
  • You have hyperthyroidism and need nutritional support
  • You feel tired and want a food plan alongside treatment

What your plan focuses on

Weight and energy

Meals that support metabolism and steady energy through the day.

Working around medication

Meals planned around your doctor’s instructions for timing.

Nutrient adequacy

Enough protein, iron, calcium and other nutrients for your needs.

Myths sorted out

Clear guidance on what really needs to change and what does not.

Food guidance

Most people with a thyroid condition do not need to cut out many foods. Praksha tells you what matters for your type, your medication and your labs. Cooked cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage and cauliflower are generally fine in normal amounts.

This is general guidance. Your own plan is personalised to your reports, medication and food preferences.

What we track

  • TSH, T3 and T4
  • Weight
  • Energy and symptoms
  • Iron, vitamin D and B12 where relevant

Please note

Take thyroid medication exactly as prescribed. Ask your doctor before spacing it from supplements such as calcium or iron, as they can affect absorption.

Frequently asked questions

What should I avoid in hypothyroidism?

Very little needs to be avoided completely. The main practical point is taking medication as your doctor advises, away from certain supplements, and keeping portions and nutrition balanced.

Can I lose weight with hypothyroidism?

Yes, although it can be slower. A balanced plan with the right portions, adjusted with your lab reports, works well.

Do I need to avoid cabbage and cauliflower?

In normal cooked amounts they are generally fine. Extreme amounts of raw cruciferous vegetables are the usual concern.

Is the plan different for hyperthyroidism?

Yes. Energy and nutrient needs differ, so the plan is built for your type and stage.
